The tropics of North Queensland include many towns from Cairns to Townsville which are known for their great nursery supplies from garden plants to pots. The humidity in Townsville and though to Cairns makes it ideal for growing plants which can be sent to most locations in Australia.
The coastline between Cairns and Townsville is a region of forests, remote islands and the Great Barrier Reef. The national parks in this area are a part of the World Heritage Wet Tropics and offer many opportunities for camping, fishing, bushwalking and wildlife-watching.
Townsville can be regarded as Australia's largest tropical city with a diverse range of activities that can be undertaken including scuba diving and fishing this can also be arranged from Cairns which is approximatly 4 hours drive from Townsville. If you visit Townsville a trip to Magnetic Island is a great way to explore this area. Drive north approximatly 1.5 hours and you will discover Ingham where you can relax and take in the sights of Wallaman Falls the biggest single drop water fall in Australia. Ingham is a small country town with surrounding sugar cane fields which are still worked by the Italian immigrants families. Ingham has the great Hinchinbrook Island at it's door step with many great fishing spots and bushwalking tracks. The Tyto Wetlands is worth a visit if in this area there is a range of wild life around the wetlands.
